DES MOINES, IOWA (WTVB) – The career success story for a former Coldwater woman includes a new chapter that is being written in Iowa. Catherine Huggins is now the Chief Advisor to Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, who took the oath of office May 24, 2017, becoming the state’s first woman Governor. Catherine’s parents, Dennis and Joyce Page, were on hand for the swearing-in ceremonies for Reynolds.
Growing up in Coldwater, Cathy Page was a 1981 graduate of Coldwater High School, where she excelled in athletics, setting multiple records in basketball and track. Cathy and her older sister by two years, LaBeth, are both members of the CHS Athletic Hall of Fame.
Cathy transitioned her name to Catherine in 1985 upon graduation from Drake University while landing a job with the office of the Governor where she became the Chief Speechwriter and Deputy Press Secretary. Catherine went on to a stellar national career in public relations and marketing and in 1995 married Jeff Huggins, who a decade later established his own marketing firm, in which his wife led its corporate practice.
Catherine attributes her career success to her parents, husband, and older sister. In addition, she says the quality education and sports coaching that she received at Coldwater High School were key factors with the CHS classes and athletics teaching her to be focused, resilient, and have fun!
