COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater teenager has been arrested for an alleged computer sex crime involving minors and for the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile female.
18-year old Shane William Watson is being held on $100,000 bond after being arraigned Friday in Branch County District Court. The booking record from the County Jail indicates Watson was taken into custody Friday at Pansophia Academy in Coldwater. He is facing three charges.
The arrest warrant shows Watson is accused of third degree criminal sexual conduct with the victim between the age of 13 and 16 years old; accosting for immoral purposes; and third degree child criminal sexual conduct using internet computers in the commission of a crime.
According to the warrant, the alleged computer crimes occurred between March and May of this year. WOOD-TV 8 News said Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler told them that Watson has faced allegations like this before, charged with 3rd degree CSC last November for allegedly getting a 15-year old girl with developmental disabilities pregnant.
Watson is set for a District Court probable cause hearing June 13, 2017 with a preliminary exam scheduled for June 20. There has been no news release on Watson’s arrest issued by Coldwater City Police.
