COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -The 24th annual Great Hospice Duck Race, which raises funds for the Community Health Center of Branch County’s hospice program, will take place Saturday at Waterworks Park in Coldwater.
The first prize is $2,017 in cash donated by Dutcher Funeral Home of Coldwater and Bronson.
Second prize is half a beef donated by Marshall Brothers Dairy of Allen.
Third prize is a family bronze golf membership donated by Coldwater Golf Course.
Organizers say over $14,000 in prizes will be given away.
The event raised $35,000 for the C.H.C. hospice program last year. All proceeds go to support patient and volunteer service programs. C.H.C. Hospice Services relies on grants and community donations to support services for patients who have little or no insurance.
Many volunteers work on the fundraising effort. The event has annually attracted hundreds of sponsors and donations from the community.
Duck race tickets for Saturday’s race have been sold in recent weeks at many locations around Branch County for $5 apiece.
