HILLSDALE COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash involving an Amish buggy which took place late Thursday morning on South Hillsdale Road near Rodgers Road.
They report 73-year-old Peter Steven Miller of Hillsdale was driving north in a 2018 Ford Focus at about 11:00 a.m. when he struck the buggy that was also traveling north.
Miller told deputies he did not see the buggy due to a shadow covered roadway.
The driver of the buggy, 19-year-old Viola Schwartz of Hillsdale, and a 14-year-old passenger were transported by Reading Emergency Unit to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Miller was not injured and was wearing his seat belt. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Michigan State Police, the Woodbridge Fire Department, the Reading Emergency Unit and Affordable Towing.
