BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – As of Tuesday, Branch County is among the lowest counties in the state for percentage of registered voters who have cast absentee ballots.
Of the 35,399 registered voters in Branch County, the Michigan Secretary of State’s office says 13-point-4 percent have voted absentee. That ties Branch County with Newaygo County for the amount of registered voters who have voted absentee.
The numbers are not much better in neighboring southern border counties.
Hillsdale County had the lowest percentage in the state at 12 percent. St. Joseph County had the second lowest percentage at 13-point-1 percent. In Calhoun County, 14-point-3 percent of registered voters have voted absentee.
Leelanau County had the highest percentage as of Tuesday at 31-point-six percent.
The Michigan Secretary of State’s office says over two-point-three million absentee ballots were requested with 68 percent of them returned.
