BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson Clerk/Treasurer Tricia Rzepka says there was a voting tabulator issue for a short time on Tuesday morning during Election Day.
She said in a post on the city’s Facebook page that around 9:30 a.m., the tabulator was not able to accept ballots until a tech was able to resolve the issue.
While the tabulator was down, Rzepka says voters were asked to place their ballots in the auxiliary bin as a backup procedure.
She says the auxiliary bin is attached to the tabulator and is secure. It’s used in the event that the tabulator is not able to count ballots.
Once the tabulator was working again, Rzepka says the ballots in the auxiliary bin were entered and that all of the votes were counted.
Rzepka adds rumors that voters were using pencils on the ballots were not true.
All ballots are voted on with pen as the tabulator will not accept ballots written in pencil. Pencils are only used for the voting application when voters first arrive at the polls.
