HASTINGS, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball, Coldwater swept an Interstate 8 doubleheader at Hastings Tuesday as they won by lopsided scores of 15-0 and 13-2.
Kam Miller tossed a four inning two hitter and struck out eight in the opener as the Cardinals took advantage of eight Saxon errors. Bryce Barringer had three hits and four RBI’s. Brent Smoker also had three hits.
The Cardinals set the tone in the nightcap with an eight run first inning. Starting pitcher Alex Everitt went the first four innings to get the win. Collin Torrey, Miller and Cameron Barnes all had two hits.
Coldwater is now 15-13 overall and they finish 8-6 in the Interstate 8.
Union City dropped both ends of a Big 8 Conference doubleheader to Homer by scores of 6-1 and 17-6. Colton Johns struck out seven in five plus innings of work. The Trojans snapped a 1-1 tie with four runs in the fifth. Union City led 6-5 in the fourth inning of the second game before Homer scored 12 unanswered runs. Larson Kever had two hits and drove in four runs for the Chargers.
Quincy lost both games of a Big 8 Conference doubleheader to Concord by scores of 6-2 and 6-3.
Bronson clinched at least a share of the BCS title with a doubleheader sweep at Cassopolis by scores of 24-3 and 12-2. The Vikings are now 22-6 overall and 9-1 in the BCS.
Ethan Cossairt and Brett Sikorski were the winning pitchers. Hudson Wotta hit for the cycle in the first game and drove in five runs. Bryce Withington belted a grand slam while Bryant Behnke also had three hits. Kameron Haviland drove in three runs in the second game while Withington tripled.

Coldwater finished in a tie for second place in the Interstate 8 as they swept Hastings 13-0 and 15-0. Darlene Horn tossed a pair of shutouts as she was the winning pitcher in both games. Samatha Rodesiler, Cheyanne Akers and Horn all had two hits in the second game.
Coldwater finished 11-3 in the conference. They are now 19-9 overall.
Union City swept a Big 8 Conference doubleheader from Homer 10-3 and 8-4. Haley Rivard was the winning pitcher in both games. Autumn Carpenter and Brenna Johnson both had three hits in the first game. Cassie Thorpe had three hits in the nightcap.
Quincy swept Concord in a Big 8 Conference doubleheader winning both games by 9-4 scores. Kelsie Mainstone and Hannah Economou were the winning pitchers. Katie Newberry had three hits and three stolen bases in the first game while Makayla Signor drove in two runs. Economou homered and had three RBI’s in the nightcap.
Quincy is now 11-1 in the Big 8.
Bronson swept a BCS doubleheader at Cassopolis by scores of 16-1 and 11-1. Adyson Lasky and Aubrey Ballou were the winning pitchers. Kiera Lasky and Payton Robinson homered in the first game. Robinson also had three hits. Kiera Lasky also homered in the second game as Bronson improved to 17-11 overall and 9-1 in the BCS.
