COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As it prepares for a bond issue vote in November 2017, Coldwater school officials are looking for your input. All Coldwater Community School District residents over the age of 18 are being asked to take a Facilities Survey which is currently available on the district’s website.
After three lightly attended meetings were conducted last year, the survey will provide additional input from the community before district officials make a formal recommendation to the Coldwater Board of Education.
That recommendation will be made either this month or in June.
The Board will then review the survey results and decide if the district should proceed with a bond election in November.
The district has talked about putting a $29 million bond resolution before voters that would fund a new 4th and 5th grade building to replace Lakeland Elementary, as well as improvements at other district buildings. An additional 1.39 mills would be needed in order to fund the work.
Coldwater Community School District voters turned down two bond proposals in May 2015 which totaled over $56 million and would have required a 3.55 mill increase.
