Lee Richard Heimert, 93, of Litchfield passed away Friday, November 15, 2024 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield with Pastor Daniel Steeves officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Litchfield.
The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
He was born August 27, 1931, in Coldwater to Emil and Myrtle (Machan) Heimert. He married Lorna Ensign Kaetzel, and she preceded him in death on March 12, 2020.
Lee grew up in Bronson and graduated from Bronson High School. He retired from the Coldwater State Home and was previously employed at several factories in the area.
Lee’s days were often spent doing the things he loved most, playing bingo with friends and walking his beloved dogs. He was also a member of the Litchfield First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Heimert of Garrett, IN and Loren (Rose) Kaetzel of Litchfield; grandchildren, Richard (Thea) Kaetzel, Eddie (Lisa) Kaetzel and Sarah Lynn Heimert; great-grandchildren, Steven Gabriel Heimert, Liam Roake Gassaway, Jenna (Josh) Cadle, Angel Kaetzel, Mackenzie (Ben) Bowman and Amy (Christian) Kaetzel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorna; daughter, Melody Weil; siblings, Ilene Younce, Carol June Durden and Wayne Heimert; grandchildren, Benjamin Lee, Lisa Louise and Laura Lee; and great-great-grandson, Wyatt Dylan Cadle.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Greater Hillsdale Humane Society.
