COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A former corrections officer at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater was sentenced on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he admitted his guilt to being in possession of illegal drugs.
43-year-old Mark Everett Goodlock of Hillsdale pled guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed a count of bringing contraband into a prison.
According to on line court records, Goodlock was given two years of probation and a jail sentence of 11 months with credit for 152 days already served.
The plea agreement called for a one year cap on jail time as well as probation.
A search led to Goodlock’s arrest by the Michigan State Police last June before he started his shift. The State Police were requested by the Michigan Department of Corrections to assist with their investigation.
