UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Due to a 10 minute loss of water pressure Wednesday afternoon, the entire Village of Union City is under a boil water notice until further notice.
Village officials issued the order in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, and say it is being done out of an abundance of caution.
Union City Department of Public Works crews have collected water samples. If the sample tests come back clear then the advisory will be lifted.
Village officials are hoping that will be sometime early Thursday evening.
They say the water pressure was lost at about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday due to a failure of a control panel at one of the Village’s well houses. This was a new control panel that had been replaced after an accident took out wires April 20 at Park and High Streets. That accident caused a power disruption that destroyed the old control panel.
The company that installed the panel is examining it to determine why it temporarily failed.
