QUINCY TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Firefighters from three departments had to be called in on Thursday afternoon to battle a fire at Baade Fabricating and Engineering at 210 South Ray-Quincy Road. The fire was reported at 3:46 p.m.
Quincy firefighters were initially called. They got automatic mutual aid from the Coldwater Fire Department. The Lakeland Fire Department was called in to assist about five minutes later.
Quincy Fire Chief Mike Sherman says there was fire in the attic space above the office area of the building when they arrived.
Crews were able to quickly pull down the ceiling and extinguish the fire. Sherman added they spent quite a bit of time ensuring that there was no fire extension throughout the rest of the attic and void spaces of the building.
The fire was determined to have originated from a wood stove chimney in the attic. The building is insured. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters were on the scene until 6:19 p.m. Thursday night. The Branch County Sheriff’s Department provided traffic control. Life Care Ambulance stood by.
