COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School girls varsity softball team improved to 9-3 in the Interstate 8 as they swept a doubleheader from Harper Creek 11-1 and 12-1.
Darlene Horn was the winning pitcher in both games. She struck out seven in the opener and helped her cause with three hits. Seariah Bradley, Carly Duke and Jamie Wellet all had two hits. Wellet and Avery Milnes both had three hits in the second game.
Coldwater’s overall record is now 16-8.
The Coldwater J.V. softball team split a doubleheader with Harper Creek as they won the first game 6-3 but lost the second game 14-13.
Bronson split a BCS doubleheader with Centreville as they won the first game 8-3 but lost the nightcap 8-5. Winning pitcher Adyson Lasky struck out five and went the distance in the opener. Scyler Cary and Kiana Mayer both had three hits. Allie Sikorski homered in the second game while Payton Robinson had three hits. Bronson is now 13-8 overall and 5-1 in the BCS.
Union City swept a doubleheader from Reading by scores of 15-0 and 22-0. Haley Rivard was the winning pitcher in both games. Allison Adams and Emma Elgan homered and had three RBI’s in the first game. Elgan had three hits in the second game while Cassie Thorpe had four RBI’s.
Quincy also swept a Big 8 Conference doubleheader as they defeated Homer 12-1 and 7-2. Hannah Economou was the winning pitcher in both games. She recorded 15 strike outs in the opener.
