COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With COVID-19 vaccines ready to roll out, Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency Health Officer Rebecca Burns went over vaccination plans with the agency’s Board of Health on Thursday.
Burns says they have been meeting with local hospitals, the Federally Qualified Health Center in St. Joseph County, and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on determining which Agency is best suited to provide the vaccine to who.
She said because their rural counties do not have an ultra-cold freezer, they will not be receiving the Pfizer vaccine which comes out first. They will instead get the Moderna vaccine.
It will be about a week behind the Pfizer vaccine.
Burns says the vaccine will be distributed based on federally established criteria.
Meanwhile, three pop-up COVID-19 testing events are scheduled to take place in January, one in each county of the C.H.A.’s jurisdiction.
The first has been scheduled for January 5th at the Branch Area Transit Authority in Coldwater.
The others will be at Dial-A-Ride in Hillsdale on January 12 and on January 19 in Three Rivers at the St. Joseph County Transportation Authority.
