BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Both of the Legg Middle School Track teams finished second in the Bronson Invitational on Friday. Battle Creek Lakeview won the girls meet with 108 points followed by Legg with 87 points.
First place finishes included Claudia Rivera-Rodriguez in the long jump with a personal best jump of 13′ 5″. Legend Szafranski finished first in both the 3200 meter run with a finish time of 12:23.62 and in the 880 yard run with a time of 2:49.06. Mia Rzepka also took home two first place finishes in both the 60 yard hurdles ( 9.81) and in the 220 yard hurdles (31.75 sec). Ezma Machan finished first in the mile run with a time of 6:16.02. Anna Demeester finished 2nd in the 440 yard dash with a time of 1:08.99 and 4th in the shot put with a throw of 26′ 2″. Leah Goodwin finished 2nd in the 220 yard hurdles with a time of 35.42 seconds.
The 440 yard relay team consisting of Claudia Rivera-Rodriguez, Erica Haney, Tasha Pike, and Mia Rzepka also finished 2nd with a time of 58.47 seconds. Alyssa Bach finished 3rd in long jump with a personal best jump of 11’10”.
Battle Creek Lakeview also took first place in the boys meet with a score of 169. Legg Middle School was second with 59 points. First place finishes included Deandre Douglas in pole vault with a height of 8′. Spencer Rodesiler in long jump with a jump of 16′. Cameron Linton finished first in the 880 yard run with a time of 2:29.24. Marshall Hoard took second place in the pole vault with a height of 8′.
Third place finishes included four relay teams. The 4×200 relay team consisting of Zach Diotte, Lukas Kelley, Dale Fry and Myron Lafty with a time of 2:12.31. The 2 mile relay team consisting of Danifallah Ahmed, Brandon Downs, Mohammad Nasser and Antonio Potter finished with a time of 11:26.06. The mile relay team of Gavin Budd, Brandon Downs, Mohammad Nasser, and Daifallah Ahmed finished with a time of 4:47.24. The 4×100 relay team of Kolby Wagoner, Deandre Douglas, Cole Neitzke, and Spencer Rodesiler finished with a time of 55.03.
Both teams with travel to Jackson Northwest Monday.
The Legg Middle School Cardinal tennis team finished fourth at the Sturgis Invitational on Saturday with four people garnering wins on the day, including Mackenzie Brezovacki at fourth singles, Shelby Taber and Carla Ruiz-Ramirez at fourth doubles, and Carson Perz at first singles. It was an outstanding effort against a very tough field . The Cards next see action at home vs Marshall on Thursday.
