John C. Maxson, 79, of Coldwater passed away Monday, December 9, 2024 at his home.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
A celebration of John’s life will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Coldwater Moose Lodge.
Cremation services have been provided by Dutcher Funeral Home.
John was born November 19, 1945 in Coldwater, MI to Ray and Mildred (Bitz) Maxson, Sr. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1963 and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
John married Gloria Irwin on February 7, 1969. She preceded him in death December 23, 2023.
John worked for the Michigan Gas Utilities and Great Plains Gas Company from 1969 until his retirement in 2001.
He loved to travel with his wife. Together they visited Hawaii, Thailand, England and several places in the western United States. They also enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida for many years.
John is survived by his children Terina (Roger) Rickman of Coldwater, Timothy (Rosemary) Maxson of Coldwater, Rebeca (Darrell) Wells of Quincy; his brother Ray (Jackie) Mason, Jr. of Equality, IL; his grandchildren Mitchel (Photini) Rickman, Grant Rickman, Jessica (David) Slaybaugh and John (Brooke) Maxson.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Maxson.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
