COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater girls varsity soccer team kept their unbeaten streak alive with a 2-2 tie at home against Jackson Northwest Wednesday.
Northwest scored first, just seven minutes into the game. Coldwater then tied the score 11 minutes later on an unassisted goal from Malorie Rzepka. Northwest retook the lead 10 minutes into the second half, but the Lady Cardinals tied the game again with 22 minutes to play on a Madison Marsh goal, assisted by Rzepka.
Nadia Kiersey made six saves in goal, as Coldwater outshot Northwest 15-12. With the tie, Coldwater is now 0-2-2 in the Interstate 8 Conference and 3-5-3 overall. They will host Harper Creek Monday on Senior Night.
The Coldwater JV team tied Northwest 1-1.
—Boys Golf—
Coldwater hosted the second Jamboree of the season for the Interstate 8 at the Coldwater Golf Course and came away with a third place finish, two stokes behind Marshall. Lumen Christi won the event firing a team score of 153 followed by Marshall at 166 and Coldwater at 168.
Coldwater was led by Cam Ruge who shot 38 which was one shot behind co-medalists Alex Johnson of Harper Creek and Jerry Christensen of Hastings. Alec Keplinger fired a 40 for the Cardinals. Cam Bopp and Kyle Herman each had 45’s, Tanner Bowers carded at 49 and Austin Butler rounded out the scoring with a 53.
