COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Local educators who have gone above and beyond for special education students through the Branch Intermediate School District were honored last week at a special banquet at the Branch Area Careers Center.
Administrator of the Year was David Spalding, the principal at Quincy High School. General Educator of the Year was Lindsey Karbon from Lakeland Elementary. John Howk of Lakeland Elementary was named Special Education Teacher of the Year. BISD Sign Language teacher Mary Smith was named Ititnerate Staff Person of the Year, and Lindsey Proffit was named Bus Driver of the Year. David Rinehart was named Volunteer of the Year.
United Commercial Travelers Council #452 was honored as Business of the Year. They donated money for the construction of a ramp for the stage at the Waldron Center, and also donated $5,000 to the Waldron Center, after the school won the UCT’s video competition.
Nominations were made by parents, students, and fellow teachers.
