COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater split an Interstate 8 doubleheader against Jackson Northwest at Lowe Field, winning the opener 3-1 and dropping the nightcap 12-4. Collin Torrey pitched a complete game 3-hitter in the first game with no walks and 13 strikeouts, while Bryce Barringer had two hits. The Mounties’ bats were booming in game two, getting 12 hits off Cardinal pitching. Torrey had two hits, Kameron Miller had a single and a double, and Mitchell Duda hit an RBI double. Coldwater’s record stands at 10-10 overall, 5-3 in the Interstate 8.
In action we had on the radio from the Rotary Softball Complex, Coldwater split a twinbill against Northwest, taking the opener 3-2 and dropping the nightcap 6-1. In game 1, Jamie Wellet had a triple, Carly Duke had a single and a double, and Izzy Foley earned McDonald’s Player of the Game honors with the game-winning RBI double in the sixth inning and a great defensive play in the seventh to help preserve the win: Darlene Horn threw a complete game for the win with no walks and 2 strikeouts. She also pitched a complete game in the game 2 loss, allowing just 1 earned run with 1 walk and a strikeout, while also hitting two singles on her way to being named McDonald’s Player of the Game. Drue Mullin had a single and a double as the Cardinals move to 9-6 overall, 5-3 in the Interstate 8.
