COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school girls basketball Thursday night, Coldwater built on a 21-14 halftime lead by outscoring Pennfield 18-7 the rest of the way as the Cardinals won at home 39-21.
Elli Foley had a double-double to pace the Cardinals; she finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Danika Cox added 8 points, 2 boards, and 2 assists, while Rylie VanAken had a team-high 10 steals.
Coldwater improved to 2-0 in the Interstate 8 Conference and 4-1 overall, and will next see action Monday, December 30, when they will face Detroit Cass Tech at Wayne Memorial High School as part of the Michigan Winter Hoopfest.
For Pennfield, Natalie Hensel led the way with 12 points. The Panthers committed 33 turnovers as they fell to 1-5 overall, 0-3 in the Interstate 8.

Coldwater also won the JV girls game 38-27 behind 12 points from Harper Morrill and 10 points from Julia Travelbee.
DETROIT, MI – Union City made the most of their opportunity to play on the Pistons’ home court, as the Chargers defeated Hillsdale 56-33 at Little Caesars Arena.
Ellie Williams had a double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals, while Nala Payne had 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Union City improves to 2-3 and will take on St. Philip on Friday, December 27 during the Chuck Turner Classic at Battle Creek Central.
