COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School bowling teams hosted their first Annual Singles tournament at Midway Lanes on Sunday which featured a boys championship for Bronson’s Drew McConn.
The Girls bracket consisted of 22 bowlers, after four qualifying games the field was cut to the six top qualifiers, with Coldwater having two girls make the cut.
In the first round, Kylie Cook and Ashlyn Cleckner of Coldwater faced off against each other, with Cleckner defeating Cook with a two game score of 294 to 264.
Cleckner moved on to the next round where she faced the #2 qualifier, Summer Stone of Marshall who defeated her 340 to 277. Cleckner finished in third place and Cook finished sixth.
There were 31 bowlers in the Boys division. After the four game qualifying block, Coldwater’s Vinnie Beekman came out as the #2 qualifier with a four game score of 789 which earned him a bye in the first round of the stepladder finals.
Beekman bowled against Drew McConn of Bronson in the second round. McConn came out on top with a 414 to 392 win placing Beekman as third overall. McConn went on to win the tournament championship for the boys.
The Coldwater Varsity bowlers will be in Bronson on Tuesday for The Sturgis Trojan New Years Eve Singles tournament.
