THREE RIVERS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater girls varsity soccer team built a 4-0 half time lead, and went on to beat Three Rivers 4-2 Monday night. The win snapped the Lady Cardinals 5 game losing streak, improving their record to 2-5-1 on the season.
Malorie Rzepka and Madison Marsh each had two goals, with Marsh adding an assist. Madysen Fisher, Brooke Neitzert, and Carlie Wilson also each had one assist. While the Lady Cardinals did all their scoring in the first half, the Three Rivers goals came in the final seven minutes. Nadia Kiersey made six saves in goal, as Coldwater outshot Three Rivers 19-9.
The Lady Cardinals play at Parma Western Friday night, before hosting Quincy for annual “The Battle of the Birds” and Youth Soccer Day Saturday afternoon.
The Coldwater JV team also beat Three Rivers 4-2. Elise Leggett had two goals, with one each for Megan Barnes and Whitney Johnson. Madison Fougerousse had two assists, while Barnes had one. Emily Fagen made six saves in goal.
Quincy stayed unbeaten with a 7-1 win at Springport. Payton Hines had the hat trick for the Orioles while Hannah Kaser scored twice. Katie Rathbun and Haley Bean also scored for Quincy while goaltender Torri Swift made nine saves. The Orioles are now 4-0-1 and will face Jonesville on Thursday.
