COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man is in critical condition after his bicycle was struck by a vehicle on Michigan Avenue north of East Chicago Street on Wednesday morning.
Coldwater Director of Public Safety Joe Scheid reports police were dispatched at 8:08 a.m.. It was determined by police that a 53-year-old man was attempting to cross Michigan Avenue on his bike when he was struck by a 2016 Ford Fusion which was driven by a 24-year-old Coldwater woman whose name was not released.
The Coldwater Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance responded to the scene to treat the injured bicyclist.
LifeCare Ambulance took the injured man to Insight Hospital and Medical Center in Coldwater. He was later transferred to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
A traffic crash reconstructionist from the Michigan State Police assisted Coldwater Police and the case is currently under investigation.
Police say the name of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification of his next of kin.
