COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners decided during their work session on Thursday morning to keep the term for their Board Chair at one year.
With Commissioners going to four year terms, County Administrator Frank Walsh felt the Board should decide if they wanted to switch the Chair’s term from one to two years.
If that happened, then the Commissioners Standing Board Rules would have to change.
Commissioner Jon Houtz motioned for the Board Chair term to stay at one year.
The term of the Vice Chair will stay at one year.
In other house cleaning business, the Commissioners approved an amended three year contract with Walsh through the end of 2027. Walsh will receive a salary of $130,000 a year.
Under state law, they could only give him a contract through the end of 2024 when he was hired last September.
