BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles and the Union City Chargers both recorded Big 8 Conference wins on Thursday night while the Bronson Vikings saw their five game winning streak come to an end.
The Orioles defeated Maple Valley 50-44 in the Coolest Gym in Michigan. Brandon Miner led the Orioles with 17 points while Alex Dunn added 13 points. Quincy improved to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the Big 8 Conference.
Quincy’s J.V. team is 9-0 after they defeated Maple Valley 43-36. Garrett Haylett led the Orioles with 12 points while Christian Craven had 10 points and Carson Haylett grabbed 10 rebounds.
Union City bounced back from Wednesday’s loss at Delton-Kellogg as they won at Reading 64-36. The Chargers improved to 7-4 overall and they are 3-2 in the Big 8.
Bronson’s five-game winning streak came to an end as they lost at Springport 60-45. The Spartans lead the conference with a 5-0 Big 8 record. The Vikings dropped to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the Big 8.
Also in boys basketball on Thursday night, Tekonsha lost to Camden-Frontier 76-37 as the Indians record dropped to 1-6.
In junior varsity boys basketball, Coldwater lost 48-38 to Harper Creek Thursday night. Evan Lewis led the Cardinals with 9 points and 3 steals.
