COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Township Supervisor Don Rogers says the township was notified by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy on Tuesday morning it has received a $500,000 grant for the Tibbits Energy Storage project.
The grant application was submitted to EGLE in response to the Renewable Ready Communities Award Request for Proposals.
The grant expires on December 31, 2028. Construction on the 100-megawatt Jupiter Battery storage facility near the intersection of Michigan Avenue and State Road is expected to be done by this fall.
Consumers Energy announced an agreement last June with Jupiter Power that according to Consumers will add 100 megawatts of battery storage to their clean energy arsenal.
