QUINCY, MI (WTVB)- The Quincy Village Council passed a bonding resolution Tuesday night to issue and sell bonds in an amount not to exceed $4 million. That money will help fund improvements to the village’s water supply system. The improvements include the installation of a new well.
The Village Council awarded a low bid of over $1,280,000 last month to Hoffman Brothers of Battle Creek for the major water line renovation project.
The total project will consist of replacing 123 year old four inch water mains with 3,100 feet of 12 and eight inch water mains. There will also be associated roadway work and the South Main Lift Station will also be replaced.
Four bids were submitted for the project, which is being made possible thanks to a $1 million Michigan Economic Development Corporation grant that was awarded to Quincy last September.
Village Manager Eric Zuzga says the preconstruction meeting has been held with Hoffman Brothers. An initial schedule was presented, but Zuzga says it needs to be updated for a number of reasons. The public will be informed once a revised schedule is finalized.
Zuzga says the rest of the work around the school along Fulton, East Liberty and Orange maybe put on hold until 2018.
He added in his report to the Council that the engineer is trying to work with the funding agency to get things finished up so that the bid can be released by May1, 2017.
