COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Cam Barnes delivered an RBI single in the last of the eighth inning which gave the Coldwater Cardinals a 7-6 victory over Battle Creek Pennfield in the opener of their Interstate 8 doubleheader at Lowe Field Tuesday. Pennfield came back to win the nightcap 4-3. Lucas Santure was the winning pitcher in the first game. Collin Torrey had two hits while Bryce Barringer scored twice.
Barringer had three hits including a homer in the nightcap while Brent Smoker had two hits. The Cardinals are now 8-6 overall and 3-1 in the Interstate 8.

Blade Gordon had two hits in the opener. A five run sixth helped the Chargers win the nightcap. Winning pitcher Colton Johns struck out 17 and tossed a two hitter. He also had two hits at the plate.

Darlene Horn was the winning pitcher in both ends of the twinbill. She also homered and drove in two runs in the opener. Dru Mullin and Seairah Bradley both drove in three runs in the nightcap. The Cardinals are now 4-0 in the Interstate 8 and 8-1 overall.
The Coldwater J.V.’s swept their doubleheader with Pennfield by scores of 16-15 and 18-17.

Autumn Carpenter homered and had five RBI’s in the opener while Skyler Herman drove in three runs. She also had three RBI’s in the nightcap. Allison Adams and Haley Rivard were the winning pitchers. The Chargers are now 4-0 in the Big Eight and 8-3 overall.

Second game winning pitcher Hannah Economou homered as Quincy salvaged the second game of the twinbill and inproved to 3-1 in the Big 8. Quincy is now 3-5 overall.
