COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Unlike last year, Saturday’s Coldwater Kiwanis Club Cardboard Sled Races should have no weather issues.
The races on Kiwanis Hill at Heritage Park became a part of Winterfest in 2022 and have become very popular in recent years.
Warmer than normal temperatures in 2024 turned the course into a muddy mess and forced a postponement.
But temperatures this week are expected to stay below freezing and it’s also cold enough to use the Kiwanis Club’s snow machine to make snow.
Ray Sebastian from the Kiwanis Club said there will be three classes.
The sleds consist of cardboard, duct tape and glue.
There will be judging for who goes the farthest and for creativity.
Winterfest is a free event being hosted by the City of Coldwater’s Recreation Department this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Park.
Besides the sled races, there will be inflatables, free Hot Cocoa & S’mores, live wood carvings, kids’ activities, horse-drawn wagon rides, sled dogs, fun winter vehicles, food trucks and sponsor booths with giveaways
