DETROIT (WTVB) – He has set a record that no one would want, and is the subject of a major motion picture currently being shot in Detroit.
“White Boy Rick” was a police informant when he was a pre-teen, and used his knowledge of the system to become a major drug dealer before he was old enough to shave. At 17, he was caught with 650 grams of cocaine and sentenced to life. That was nearly 30 years ago. Laws have changed since his conviction, and juvenile offenders are no longer given life.
Rick Wershe has now become Michigan’s longest serving juvenile offender, and has just convinced the Michigan Parole Board to grant a hearing for a possible release.
Matthew McConaughey is starring in his bio-pic, due in theatres next year.
