COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Fire Chief Rich Sherman said in his annual report to the City Council Monday night that emergency responses continued to increase in 2016.
Sherman said there were no deaths or significant injuries as Coldwater firefighters battled 77 fires last year, which was a slight increase from 2015.
Sherman says Coldwater’s per capita fire loss rate continues to be below the national average even though there were three significant industrial fires in 2016.
Sherman also mentioned the city’s public protection classification rating has risen to a Class 3 level, making Coldwater only one of 29 Michigan communities to achieve that rating.
