JONESVILLE, MI (WTVB) – Two people were injured Monday afternoon when their vehicle struck a tree in Hillsdale County’s Scipio Township.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened at about 4:35pm on East Mosherville Road a half mile west of Pope Road.
According to accident investigators, a 2000 Ford Explorer passenger vehicle that was being driven by 59-year-old Michael Leroy Casebeer of Tekonsha lost control, left the road and struck a tree.
A passenger in the vehicle, 39-year-old Hilary Renee Britton of Jonesville, was taken to Hillsdale Hospital.
Casebeer was treated at the scene before being transferred to Life Flight and flown to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
Seat belts were being used and both front airbags deployed.
The Sheriff’s Department said in a press release that controlled substances are suspected to be a factor in the crash which remains under investigation.
