BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – A total of 25 wrestlers from Branch County managed to get out of the M.H.S.A.A. Boys Wrestling Individual District Tournaments on Saturday.
The top four finishers in each weight class qualified for the Individual Regionals next weekend.
Two wrestlers from Coldwater qualified for the Gull Lake regionals at the Division Two district meet hosted by Harper Creek. Raul Cecilio was fourth at 215 pounds while Dayton Miller was fourth at 150 pounds.
Quincy had three wrestlers qualify for the Olivet Regional in the Division Three district meet hosted by Williamston. Ryan Rose was third at 106 pounds, Aaron Jones was fourth at 120 and Landon Bearden was third at 165 pounds.
Bronson and Union City competed at the Division Four district hosted by Bellevue.
Union City advanced 12 wrestlers onto next Saturday’s regional at Martin including seven who won district championships. District title winners were Blayne Crance at 106, Kaden Russel at 120, Mitchell Graham at 126, Mason Hawthorne at 132, Logan Mears at 138, Aidan Taylor at 144 and Alex Boyer at 150.
Other Chargers advancing were John Olmsted (3rd-175), William Thompson (3rd-215), Kelub Miller (4th-144), Isaiah Waidelich (3rd-157) and Montana Connell (2nd at 157).
Bronson will send eight wrestlers onto regionals including four district champions. Viking district champs were Gabe Erwin at 157, Layne Knisely at 165, Mason Lindsey at 190 and Sam Tappenden at 285.
Other Vikings who qualified for regionals were Connor Harvey (2nd-215), Brayton Cosby (4th-113), Wyatt Weinberg (4th-138) and Collin York (4th at 150).
