PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) – Jackson Reilly scored 23 points while Ayden Dirschell had a double-double as the Coldwater Cardinals defeated Portage Northern 62-53 on Tuesday night in a non-conference boys basketball game at the Igloo in Portage.
Dirschell finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Gavin Taylor added eight points while Niko Downs had seven points.
The win improved Coldwater’s record to 11-8.
Coldwater and Portage Northern split the underclassmen games.
The Coldwater J.V. team lost 72-37. Coldwater was led in scoring by Joe Hayward and Wayne Case with eight points each.
Coldwater won the freshmen game 43-37. Royale Fleming got his first double double, with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Jack Aker added 14 points and five rebounds as the freshman improved their record to 10-7.
Also in boys basketball on Tuesday night, the Union City Chargers won their fifth straight game and improved their record to 13-5 with a 76-39 win at Calhoun Christian. Eli Payne led the Chargers with 28 points while his cousin Micah Payne had 16 points and Nolan Chard contributed 14 points.
Tekonsha is now 3-15 after they defeated Mendon 59-54.
