Shawn P. “Bubba” Blanton, 51, of Coldwater passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Mercy Health Putnam Medical Center in Glandorf, MI.
A memorial service will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Richard Hildebrand officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Dutcher Funeral Home. Private interment will take place at South Allen Cemetery.
Shawn was born April 28, 1973 in Coldwater, MI. to Charles and Cheryl (Thatcher) Blanton.
He attended Grand Valley State University. Shawn worked at Jackson State and Branch County Correctional Facility as a corrections officer. He was also a warehouse manager for multiple places and was an owner/operator of a Garden Center.
Shawn was a former member of the Coldwater Eagles, Moose, American Legion, and Jaycees. He enjoyed being active in his community, golfing, bowling, shooting pool, and playing in softball leagues.
Shawn is survived by his father Charles (Sam) Blanton; his stepfather John (Candice) Esterline of Coldwater and Don and Judy Miller of Ottowa, OH; his son Nicholas (Christina) Blanton of Coldwater; his siblings Shannon Stickel of Coldwater, Mike Miller of Ottowa, OH; his nephew Tyler Stickel; and his former spouse Angel Taverna. Shawn was preceded in death by his mother, Cheryl Esterline.
Memorials may be directed to the family for monument expenses.
