Alan was born October 4, 1951 in Coldwater to Eugene and Evelyn (Harker) Russell. He later met and married Kathie Murphy on October 30, 2002, in Colon.
Throughout his life he was employed as a machine operator until he retired. Alan also worked on the family farm with his Uncle Stanley and Grandpa Russell.
Alan cherished life’s simple pleasures, finding contentment in the great outdoors, especially trips to Northern Michigan. He enjoyed the peace and relaxation that came from spur of the moment drives throughout the countryside.
A fan of whittling, tinkering, and storytelling, Alan found delight in both sharing and listening to stories filled with family, mischief, and all above laughter. Alan was undeniably one of a kind, he never failed to tell you he loved you.
He will be remembered for his thoughtful nature, kind heart, and steadfast loyalty to those he held dear. His presence will be deeply missed by his family and those who truly knew him.
Alan is survived by family members and several cousins. Additionally, the children of his late wife, stepchildren, Amber Yesh, Shanelle Mallen, Tad Yesh, and Shannon Murphy; along with their children Nathan Clipfell, Tristan Clipfell, Rylee Sobczak, Jaden Yesh, Jada Mallen, Zander Mallen, Jac Muphy, Ian Murphy and several step-great grandchildren are included.
Our family would like to express our heartfelt recognition of Alan’s dedicated and trusted friend Donny. Their bond was genuinely grounded in mutual respect, kindness, and compassion. Donny’s presence in Alan’s life, both as a friend and caregiver, provided Alan with comfort, joy, and laughter. This friendship brought comfort and reassurance to the family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathie Murphy-Russell, his parents Eugene and Evelyn Harker Russell, his brother Leland Keller, his grandparents Erna and Irene Russell, his grandfather LeRoy Harker and his grandmother Lillian May Harker.
