Phyllis R. Sexton, 88, of Bronson passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.
A service will be held Monday, February 24, 2025 at 12:0 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson with Pastor Terry Siler officiating.
A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Bronson Cemetery.
Phyllis was born August 29, 1936, to Maurice and Ruby (Smith) Walker in Coldwater, MI. She graduated from Bronson High School in 1954.
She married William “Lloyd” Sexton on May 14, 1955, in Bronson. He preceded her in death September 26, 2016, after 61 years of a happy marriage.
Mrs. Sexton worked at Harter Corporation in Sturgis for 14 years, and at Grahl International for 12 years as a sewer of office furniture.
Lloyd and Phyllis were snowbirds in Florida for 20 years. In Florida, she was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Bronson. She also enjoyed reading, bird watching, traveling, camping, her iPad, was a big sports fan, specifically for the Chicago Bears and Detroit Tigers, and bowled on a league for 35 years.
The family will miss her baking cookies and chocolate pie, baby blankets and little potholders as she enjoyed cooking and knitting. Most of all Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family.
Phyllis is survived by her children Steve (Denise) Sexton of Coldwater, Doug (Pamala) Sexton of Bronson, James (Lula) Sexton of Union City, Suzi (Brian) Hoard of Coldwater; her grandchildren Shauna Sexton, Erica (Josh) Pelfrey, Dustin Sexton, Autumn Sexton, Gabe Sexton, Chelsea (Sexton) Inman, Makeya (Tyler) Buell, Brelyn (Alex) Birkman; her great grandchildren Chance, Michael, Braydon, Jackson, Maddox, Kyleigh, Gabe, Aiden (AJ), Tobey, Lily, Tinley; her great great grandchildren Jordan, Hazel, Elvena and Emery; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband of 65 years, Phyllis was preceded in death by her grandson Willie Sexton and Jaden Steffey, and sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Lloyd Hoard and sister-in-law Sally (Stan) Stanley.
Memorials may be directed to the First Congregational Church or Bronson Fire Department.
