ANOGLA, IN (WTVB) – A pedestrian was killed on I-69 about four miles south of Angola Sunday night.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says 36-year-old Dustin Crites of Grabill, Indiana was killed when he was struck by a 2008 Dodge Caliber driven by 49-year-old Wendy Rocho of Angola.
Deputies say it happened at about 8:30pm after Crites’ vehicle broke down on the northbound side.
He pulled off the road, activated his hazard lights and called a relative for assistance.
For some unknown reason, he left his vehicle, crossed the median into the southbound lanes and was struck by Rocho.
Crites was pronounced dead at the scene by the Steuben County Coroner from blunt force trauma.
Rocho was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
