February 24, 2025 was a special day Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility Wanda Hilton, a longtime member of Branch County community, as she marked her 100th birthday.
Born February 24, 1925, in Sturgis Michigan, Hilton has witnessed a century of change and experienced many events that have shaped history.
As the third of six children and the oldest daughter, Hilton’s childhood was filled with adventure despite growing up during one of the most challenging eras in history. She played basketball at Quincy High School, where she graduated in 1943.
After graduating, Hilton went on to work at Boltek, where she met her husband, Van Hilton. Van took Wanda roller skating on their first date, and the two married at her parents’ home in Quincy in 1945. They spent 64 years together, raising two children, Wendy and Rex, in homes Van built and renovated.
When asked about the secret to living a long and happy life, Hilton said, “You’ve got to live through everything—the good and the bad, the anger and sorrows, the wishes and what-ifs, and of course, all the joys.”
Maple Lawn officials said they are honored to recognize Hilton and this incredible milestone, and look forward to continuing to be a part of her journey.
