COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The season ended for the Coldwater Cardinals boys basketball team Wednesday night as they were eliminated by the Battle Creek Central Bearcats 52-45 in the Class A District semi-finals in Coldwater.
Gage McGuire led Coldwater with 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Brady Beckhusen and Dylan Targgart both had 10 points. Demetrius Craig led the Bearcats with a game-high 14 points.
Coldwater finishes 15-7 while Battle Creek Central will take a 18-3 record into Friday’s district title game against crosstown rival Battle Creek Lakeview. The Spartans advanced with a 73-60 win over Gull Lake.
Class C at Jonesville
Quincy 68, Homer 51
Quincy advanced to the Class C District title game at Jonesville with a 68-51 victory over Homer. Quincy was led by William Dunn with 21 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots. Ryan Gibson had 10 points while Bryce Ruhl had nine points and four rebounds. Caleb McCavit also had 9 points while Nathan Karney grabbed 10 rebounds. The 18-4 Orioles will play Branch County rival Union City on Friday night at 7:00pm.
Union City 43, Bronson 41
Union City has returned to the Class C District finals following a 43-41 victory over the Bronson Vikings. Larson Kever scored a game-high 19 points for Union City as the Chargers improved to 9-12. Ethan Cossairt led Bronson with 12 points as the Vikings finished 6-15.
