COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Elementary students across Branch County will get a special guest in the classroom Wednesday, thanks to the Branch County United Way’s 5th Annual United We Read event.
United Way Executive Director Judy Krzeminski says they will host over 200 volunteer readers in classrooms all over Branch County.
Krzeminski says the Schools of Hope project, which targets young elementary readers, grew out of United We Read. It is a partnership with Kiwanis of Coldwater, Great Start Collaborative, and Jefferson Elementary. Volunteers commit 30 minutes a week to work with a 2nd grader who is behind in reading.
Those who volunteered for Wednesday are asked to check the United We Read Facebook page to confirm your scheduled time.
