BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Branch County is included in a High Wind Watch which has been issued by the National Weather Service for Saturday afternoon.
Forecasters are calling for south winds around 35 mph with possible gusts up to 55 mph in portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and northwest Ohio.
Damaging winds could blow down trees. Localized power outages are also possible.
Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. The potential for rain and cloudy skies east of I-69 may limit wind gusts.
In addition, the National Weather Service says mild weather will prevail through Saturday. Very dry and gusty conditions combined with the warm weather will bring a continued risk for rapidly spreading field and brush fires just like what happened at several locations on Thursday.
Outdoor burning is discouraged through Saturday given this elevated fire risk.
