BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A 23-year-old Bronson man was critically injured just after midnight Sunday morning when his vehicle crashed into a tree head on in Batavia Township.
Michigan State Police say the crash happened on Ember Road about a half mile west of Wheeler Road.
Troopers report the driver was headed east when he lost control of the vehicle and struck the tree.
Due to the severity of the impact, the driver became entrapped inside his vehicle and was extricated by the Bronson Fire Department.
After being freed, the driver was taken by Life Care EMS to a waiting helicopter where he was then air lifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo by West Michigan Air Care.
The accident is still under investigation but speed and alcohol are suspected to be factors. Troopers say the driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of crash.
