Coldwater, MI (WTVB) – Celebrate Earth Month in April by participating in a park and downtown cleanup Thursday, April 24, organized by the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities (CBPU), the City of Coldwater, and Coldwater Main Street.
City officials say it is an opportunity to help beautify the city and remove litter from the downtown and area parks will help kick off the event season which is filled with a number of festivals, fundraisers, and outdoor fun.
In recent years, the CBPU and City staff members participated in a cemetery cleanup while area downtown business owners, service clubs, community members and student groups joined in on an afternoon of downtown cleanup. Participants may pick up trash, pile up sticks to prepare for mowing crews, sweep and bag litter, and even paint park picnic tables. Work gloves, trash bags, and all painting supplies will be provided.
Those volunteering at the park session from 12:45-3:00 p.m. are invited to take part in a lunch provided by the CBPU at noon. Those taking part in the lunch session should meet at the Heritage Park pavilion by Heritage Hall. At 12:45 p.m., all participants should meet by Kiwanis Hill for a group photo and team/location assignments.
Those who want to participate in the downtown cleanup should meet at the fire pit at Four Corners Park at 3pm for a group photo and team/location assignment. After the downtown cleanup, a pizza dinner will be provided for volunteers, sponsored by Broadway Grille on South Monroe Street.
In order to plan for supplies, food, and locations, those interested in participating in either cleanup are asked to sign up by April 22 by visiting Coldwater.org then clicking the Earth Month graphic link on the bottom of the homepage. In the event there is inclement weather, the rain date is scheduled for Friday, April 25.
