AUBURN HILLS, MI (WTVB) – Four of the five Branch County wrestlers who advanced to the MHSAA Individual Wrestling State Finals at the Palace of Auburn Hills won their opening round matches on Thursday.
Coldwater’s Sam DeMeester won at 171 pounds in the Division Two Finals as he defeated Hunter McCall of Muskegon on a 10-0 major decision.
Four Bronson wrestlers are competing in the Division Four Finals. Ben Modert won at 103 pounds on a 15-0 technical fall over Coleton Frederickson of Mancelona.
Gavin Alger lost at 160 pounds on 15-5 major decision to Johnathan Stid of Dansville.
David Erwin scored a 13-3 major decision over Jeryn Martin of Homer. Erwin is the number one seed in the 171 pound weight class.
Chase Gibson won at 189 pounds as he defeated Brian Yeakey of Carson City-Chrystal on a 3-1 decision.
