COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners brought forward a request from Sheriff Fred Blankenship on Thursday to start the Circuit Court Bailiff and Court Security Deputy at the four year pay level of the current Police Officers of Michigan union contract.
The rate of pay would be just over $23 an hour which is about a dollar an hour less than the salary for the District Court Bailiff and Assignment Clerk which was approved by Commissioners earlier this month.
Branch County Administrator Frank Walsh is impressed with the way the new deputy is handling bailiff and security duties.
Commissioner Tim Stoll felt they should look at the big picture.
The District Court position would start at the five year level of the Service Employees International Union contract.
Formal action is expected to be taken by Commissioners during their regular meeting on Tuesday.
