KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater High School’s Alec Keplinger finished first at the MHSAA Division 2 Boys Bowling Singles Regional Tournament at Continental Lanes in Kalamazoo Saturday. Keplinger had a six game series of 1,369 which was 65 pins better than Austin Robison of Sturgis. Jaden Reichhart of Coldwater was 36th with a score of 1,093.
Meanwhile, Coldwater’s Alysia VanWormer qualified for the MHSAA Division 2 Girls Bowling Singles Finals with a seventh place on Saturday at the regionals. She had a six game series of 1,126. Tiffanie Corwin tied for 16th while Samantha Youse was 24th and Cassidy Wolfe was 25th. The top 10 finishers for both boys and girls advanced to the Division 2 Singles Finals next Saturday at Super Bowl, Canton.
Bronson’s Brandon Hyska and Ryan Wisman were the top two finishers on Saturday at the Division 4 Boys Bowling Singles Regional Tournament at Pinz in Kalamazoo. They both qualified for the Division 4 State Singles Finals next weekend at Royal Scot in Lansing.
Hyska rolled a 257 in his first game and won the regional title with a six game series of 1,206. Wissman had a high game of 211 and won a very close battle for second with a 1,119 series. The second through sixth place bowlers were only separated by 18 pins.
Also in bowling, both of the Coldwater teams and the Bronson boys squad qualified for the State Finals Friday during their regional tournaments.
Coldwater captured the MHSAA Division 2 Boys Bowling Team Regional title at Continental Lanes in Kalamazoo with a score of 4,191. That was good enough for a 72 pin victory over Byron Center.
The Coldwater girls were third at the team regionals with a score of 3,638 which was 152 pins back of first place Charlotte.
Both of the Coldwater teams will compete next Friday at the Division 2 Team Finals at Super Bowl in Canton.
The Bronson boys were second at the MHSAA Division 4 Boys Bowling Team Regional at Pinz, Kalamazoo. The Vikings were 271 pins back of first place Vandercook Lake. The Vikings advance to next Friday’s Division 4 Team Finals at Royal Scot in Lansing.
