STEVENSVILLE, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s dual meet season came to an end on Wednesday night as they were beaten by Niles 46-21 in the Division Two Team Wrestling Regional Finals at Stevensville-Lakeshore. It was the Vikings fourth regional crown in the last five years.
The Cardinals advanced to the finals with a 51-12 win over Harper Creek. Niles advanced with a 51-19 win over Mattawan.
The Cardinals finished with a 26-7 record.
Division 4 at Mendon
Cole Houtz scored a pin at 1:25 in his 171 pound match which was the last match of the Division Four Team Wrestling Regional Finals and that gave Bronson a 37-32 victory over Decatur and a trip to the state quarterfinals next week at Central Michigan University.
Bronson advanced to the finals with a 72-12 win over Reading. Decatur defeated Niles Brandywine 60-14 in the other semifinal.
Winning both of their matches on Wednesday night were Houtz, David Erwin, Chase Gibson, Ben Modert, Juan Llamazares, Isaac Tappenden and Ruger Ranney.
The eight teams who have advanced to the Division Four state quarterfinals will be reseeded by the MHSAA Sunday. Whoever Bronson will face, the Vikings will wrestle next Friday at 12 noon at CMU.

—MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL—
Coldwater’s 8th grade A team lost at Jackson Catholic 36-32. Mia Rzepka had 14 steals and 10 assists. Madison Beckhusen had seven points and seven rebounds.
Coldwater’s 7th grade A team won at Jackson Catholic 44-18 as they improved to 7-2. Jayla Foster led Coldwater with 16 points while she and Allison Miller both had seven rebounds.
Coldwater’s 7th grade B team defeated Jackson Catholic 36-6 as their record improved to 8-1. Nine Coldwater players got into the scorebook led by Cemera Paul with eight ponts,
Union City’s 8th grade team lost the final game of the regular season at Concord 21-18. Kassidy Bishop and Hannah Blair both had six points
Union City’s 7th graders lost their final regular season game on the road at Concord 25-17. Emma Dexter had 10 points for the Chargers.
