COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Clerk Terry Kubasiak administered the oath of office on Tuesday to Branch County Commissioners as new terms will begin on January 1.
Among those being sworn in was Tim Stoll of Sherwood who will take over from Terri Norris as First District Commissioner.
The first district covers Butler, Girard, Sherwood, and Union Townships as well as the villages of Sherwood and Union City.
Also being sworn in on Tuesday were Commissioners Leonard Kolcz, Randall Hazelbaker, Tom Matthew and Jon Houtz.
Houtz is back on the Commission after losing in the 2016 G.O.P. Primaries.
He served out the final six weeks of Ted Gordon’s term. Gordon’s move out of the county forced him to step down in November.
Matthew is starting a full term. He was appointed to the Commission in November 2019 when Don Vrablic’s move out of the district he represented also forced him to give up his Commission seat.
Kolcz is starting his third term as Commissioner while Hazelbaker is currently the longest serving Commissioner as he will be entering his sixth term.
With the term for Norris ending on December 31, a new Board Chair will have to be selected during an organizational meeting at 10:00 a.m. on January 4.
