COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A proposal for Branch County Jail inmate medical services was formally approved Tuesday by the Branch County Board of Commissioners. Advanced Correctional Healthcare submitted the only bid of over $232,000 when Request for Proposals were sought by the county.
The cost would cover a registered nurse at 40 hours a week and access to a doctor when needed. It also includes an annual pool of $40,000 for off site medical care. Any leftover money at the end of the year would be reimbursed back to the Sheriff’s Department.
Branch and other counties are contracting this service out in order to reduce their liability.
In other business, the Commissioners approved the upgrading of the phone system as state law requires that any building over 7,000 square feet must have a location based system. They approved a bid of over $87,000 from Zeta One for the phone system covering the courthouse and all other buildings. They also accepted a bid of over $31,000 for the phone system at the Sheriff’s Department.
Branch County Administrator Bud Norman said a previously scheduled February 25, 2017 Branch County Government Home and Outdoor Expo at the Dearth Center has been cancelled due to a lack of participants.
